EVENTS 2016 Page 2

The Annual Club BBQ this as always was held at Martyn and Maddy’s place - thank you both. Our youngest ‘members’ came along with Grandad (Oh and Mum and Dad) -  Kevin was glad as he got  some expert tuition on his I-pad, all in all an ejoyable afternoon.

We had a day out at the Lineside Vintage Weekend Show, this was worth a visit, but it was not as busy as anticipated probably due  to the poor weather forecast an interesting show and worth a visit - the rain held off until about 30 minutes before we decided to start taking down the shelter…..Ah well.

Sandringham Visit 09/10/16  Twelve of us went to Sandringham and joined the Norfolk Rover Club at their event which was held to raise funds for the local air ambulance. The goal was £1000 and they managed to raise £1200 - well done. The weather was mixed with Heavy rain follwed with sunny spells, but we managed to keep almost dry and the day turned out well.

Poppy Appeal Launch 23 October  We attended once again what is becoming an annual event for us - the Lincolnshire Poppy Appeal Launch at East Kirkby, this will I think be our last organised event this year (except the Christmas Dinner). We had a  good turnout.  We managed a group photograph in front of ‘Just Jayne’ after the event. The weather was kind and a good day was had by all.

East Kirkby Air Show  2016 We again attended this event, which took place in marvellous weather, 15 members went, and a good time was had by all. The BBMF (Lancaster and two Spitfires) gave a display which seemed to be longer than normal, also attending was the Mustang P51 along with  the Wildcat Aerobatic team, the Dakota, an Autogiro and a Catalina Flying Boat along with taxy runs by Just Jane. The Great War Team, and Captain Neville’s Flying Circus  also displayed. This was a well organised and well enjoyed outing by all.

More pictures have arrived, we may get even more !!

Coningsby Families Day 2016 We attended again this bi-annual event. The weather was kind, and after a shaky start we eventually got parked up unfortunately we were not all parked together three of us were away from the bulk of our members, this did not detract from a very enjoyable day. The Station Commander parked his Mercedes with us and we looked on with the green goddess showing. The flying displays were as usual very good, it was good that the Lancaster was back with the rest of the BBMF flight, a display from the Netherlands F16 was very good but noisy also seen were an autogiro, the flying circus and the Avro Anson from Shuttleworth. Altogether a very good day, I think we are all looking forward to 2018 and the next.

Gliding Day 13th August  We again went to the Buckminster Gliding Club for a day out, after a safety briefing, we took the cars round to ‘The Bus’ sorry the ‘Flying Control’ and started our afternoons gliding, a good time was had by all but the thermals were not as good or plentiful as they could be but all in all a very enjoyable start to a busy weekend for some of our members - Look for the Ninja Turtle !!

Thanks again to Dave, Ang, and Buckminster Gliding Club

The 10th Imp Run. 11th September.

Our 10th annual run started, in sunshine, at Woodland Waters Ancaster, and finished at Rocks by Rail - The Living Ironstone Museum  near Cottesmore.

After the usual ‘Lite Bite’ at the start, followed by a pleasant run around the countryside's of Lincolnshire and Leicestershire ending at the museum.

We visited their new engine shed and some had a ride on one of their locos.

We only had one breakdown  but this was luckily at the finish. The MG pit crew came out in force, but to no avail - knowing what’s wrong, but, when you haven't got the part needed  - Ah well - ‘The man who can’. was called. Problem solved.

Thanks to the organising team  for a good day out

Boston Classic Car Club Show  14th August  A busy weekend Part 2 We as usual had our annual stand at the show, which  again  was well attended with many varied vehicles on show. Our stand had an Olympic Theme - but we won no medals. A good day was enjoyed by all who attended and the weather was kind. There was again a fly past by the BBMF Lancaster, and then later the BBMF Spitfire

MG Autofest 18th August  W H Brand of Whaplode, held an ‘MG Fest’ day , we attended as a club, along with  a total of 192 cars, (the organisers were very surprised with this) and had an ejoyable day, the weather was kind, and although it was an ‘MG’ day there were all kinds of cars there. As we were leaving, we were invited to attend next year, this we feel should go in the diary. Altogether a great day out.
